Course Content: Chapters 8 thru 11 of the text. Some problem assignments may require maple.
Three tests plus a final exam will be given. The final exam is recorded as two test scores which will give a total of 5 test scores. If you do not take the final, your score on any missed test is zero. If you miss any of the three tests, your final exam score will be substituted for each test missed. Calculators may be used on all tests.
Makeup Tests. There are no makeup tests. Your final exam score is substituted for any test missed.
Final Grade. Class participation and computer problems will count 20 percent. The other tests will count 80 percent of your final grade. Class participation will be based on but not limited to: attendance, answering questions, putting problems on the board. Computer problems are assigned through out the quarter.
Effective with the winter quarter, the School of Science Dean will no longer routinely sign instructor's requests for a "W" for a student after the mid-point of the quarter...The only requests which will be considered will be medical emergencies where documentation is provided and other extreme situations. (A student who doesn't want a "C" on their record...etc or "signed up for too many courses", etc are examples that will not qualify!!)..."After the published date of the midpoint of the quarter, the Dean will not sign requests for a "W" without sufficient documentation of extreme situations."
Deadline for withdrawal without receiving a WF is April 30th.
Class attendance policy is that given in the 1996/7 Columbus College Catalog. Class meets from 10:05 AM to 12:15 PM TTH. Students should have nothing else scheduled during this time period. If you have a conflict, please contact your instructor.
Final exam is Thursday, June 5th, 10:00 AM to
12:00 Noon
